As educators, it is our responsibility to educate our students the knowledge and skills they need to be balanced and productive members of society. While mastery of basic subjects such as literacy, mathematics and science are of course essential to achieve this goal, many during the so-called leisure – especially music – are also important in this effort. For its many tangible benefits, the music should be preserved and promoted as an important part of primary and secondary education.

I feel very indebted to many music teachers who taught me and my family and I regret that the opportunities are not always available for children. I did my personal challenge as a music teacher and choir director individually to get each of my students and instill in them the skills and appreciation of music that bring so much joy to my life. As a teacher audience, I think it’s the fulfillment of knowing that the skills I have taught courses in music and complex, not only allows for a lifetime of interest, but also helps the many other important areas of their lives and contribute to their success in life.

The great violin teacher Shinichi Suzuki, said: “The purpose of the [music] education is to train children not to be professional musicians but to be good musicians and a high capacity in any other field they enter.” [9] My experience has taught me that music education improves learning and only prepares children for a successful life. With all the other subjects taught in primary and secondary schools, I hope I can bring the world of music in the lives of many children like me. In this way, I know I will make our society more just, making a difference in their lives.
